To split by the field #4 into repeat excerpts​

Overview​

This menu command divides the field #4 into short excerpts (pages) for repeat planning. This technique helps you remember long passages by learning them as linked fragments.

When you click the menu command the dialog window appears. In there is an instruction what to do:

💡The page becomes divided into excerpts by the field #4.

💡The split mark #/ consists of two characters.

💡Put the split marks #/ between the excerpts in the text.

The first split mark is placed after the first excerpt and the last one before the last excerpt!

When you click the buttonOK, the current page will be split into multiple pages according to your marks.

In the field #7, a unique label appears for all these excerpts. Don’t delete it. Why — you’ll use it later to unite the parts again.

Dividing into repeat excerpts​

rpt excerpts are designed to keep the flow between neighboring parts.

  • The first excerpt has an empty #3 hint.
  • From the second one onward, #3 stores a hint from the end of the previous excerpt (up to 100 symbols).
  • In #4, every excerpt keeps a small &/ tail (the start of the next excerpt), helping you hear the transition to the next part during repetition.

Memorization​

Now we are ready to start memorizing these excerpts. We memorize them until the repetition interval reaches 1-2 minutes for the least memorable excerpt.

Unification of the pages​

Once you have confidently memorized all the excerpts, combine them into one part (i.e. a page) as it was before. To do this, copy the unique number for these excerpts from field #7 of one of the excerpt and go to the Find by Form page (Find by Form: #1 - #8). Create a new Search Form (Search Form) or use the existing one. Insert the unique number in field #7 and click the Find button (Find).

On the Found by Form page (Found by Form) select the Unite Excerpts menu command (Unite Excerpts). All found excerpt pages will be combined into one. Now you should start memorisation of this page as if it was a new one. You can set any minute or second interval you want but, no more than 2 minutes. We recommend to click the left button not Know on the Pop-up button bar (Pop-up Button Bar).

Important note​

Do not modify separate excerpts. Especially (!) do not create duplicates of them. However, if you did this, remove the unique number from field #7 of the duplicate page. Otherwise, this may result in fragments not being united properly.
